Honda R&D used the design parameters of the new BF9.9 as the target for the new Honda BF20. The result is a 20–horsepower, four-stroke outboard just slightly larger and a little heavier at just 46 kilograms. In fact, you really have to look at the horsepower label on the engine cowl to distinguish between the new 20-horsepower and the 9.9-horsepower Honda outboard motors.
